A Southern VIP Getaway at the North Carolina Azalea Festival in Wilmington

Want to experience what all the hype is about in Wilmington, North Carolina? Home to Dawson’s Creek, One Tree Hill, and many of your other favorite T.V. shows and movies, Wilmington has a culture and a feel that is one-of-a-kind. Experience it all in VIP style with the North Carolina Azalea Festival, April 4-6, 2019, by joining us on a Southern Getaway.

Day One – Thursday, April 4th

Start your day with a lunch reception on the grounds of the beautiful and historic Cape Fear Country Club at the Celebrity Reception, the VIP event for sponsors of the Festival. Sip on mimosas and try our take on the classic Shrimp & Grits. Spend the rest of the afternoon taking in the sun at one of our area beaches: Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, or Kure Beach. Join us later that night at the first concert in our Main Stage Concert Series, with country boy Tyler Farr.

Day Two – Friday, April 5th

Start your morning attending the Cape Fear Garden Club Azalea Garden Tour Ribbon Cutting. Queen Azalea officially cuts the ribbon to kick off the Azalea Garden Tour, organized by one of the largest and oldest garden clubs in the country. Immediately after the Ribbon Cutting, head to Airlie Gardens to join us and 2,500 of our closest friends at the “can’t miss” even in Wilmington of the year – the Airlie Luncheon Garden Party. Make sure to don your seersucker suits, bow ties, and large garden party hats as you enjoy the full open bar and BBQ. Keep your eyes out for the hottest spring fashions on display! When you are done basking in the sun at the Garden Party, take the short ride over to Bluewater Grill for the After Garden Get Down, a fun dockside party on the picturesque intracoastal waters. A waterfront bar and patio, live music, and drink specials await! That night join us back downtown on the river for our 2nd Main Stage Concert Series act, the legendary Hank Williams, Jr.!

Day Three – Saturday, April 6th

Saturday morning start early to reserve your bleacher seats for the 72nd North Carolina Azalea Festival Parade. Floats, marching bands, and balloons dazzle the streets in this 2-hour Parade. Afterwards, walk a few blocks to the Waterfront Street Fair, where 300 arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, and three stages of entertainment can keep your attention all day. With a free Children’s Area, Multicultural Stage, and Music and Beer Garden, there is truly something for every taste! Make sure to allow time for a nap; later that night you need to put on your dancing shoes for the last VIP event of the Festival – the black-tie Patrons’ Party Gala. Dance the night away to the hippest party bands around, while enjoying the newest cocktails and food displays. This year the theme is Boots and Bowties: a black-tie affair with boots to add flair, so feel free to go untraditional and throw on some boots for something different.
